Why I’m building a conference for Fintech Nerds again

I accidentally started something with Brainfood.

Every Sunday, you choose to read my thoughts about what’s broken in fintech. On a Sunday. Some of you reply to the emails or drop links into your internal Slack channels.

Then with Colton and Joy we took a gamble and built Nerdcon. The event by operators for operators. No sales pitches, no traditional booths, no BS. The quiet part out loud. Expect the audience to keep up.

And you did. You said that the real draw was everyone else in the room, that you collected fewer leads than other shows but way more value. Several founders told me they had the two or three conversations that made their year and the highest signal-to-noise ratio of any show they do.

So we’re back for year 2. This time in San Diego. November 19-20.

My co-founders Joy and Colton and I are bending over backward to make this one special.

(See what I did there 😁)

Our agenda is packed with speakers who don’t do other shows. Why? Because they know this is the show where the industry’s best talent is.

Fintech NerdCon Main Quest agenda, Thursday 19 November 2026, San Diego

Here’s what excites me about this year's show.

  • Seb Goddijn built Ramp’s internal AI harness, and now he’s doing 90 minutes on how your company can do the same.

  • The head of Data from Brex is breaking down the wild things they’re seeing in their spending data.

  • The CTOs of Nubank and Plaid and Chime co-founder Ryan King are sharing honest lessons and insights from constantly adapting how you work. What’s working and what’s stuck.

  • We’ve got an AI builder zone, a compliance corner, a vault (for you embedded finance freaks out there), and the stableverse, because it’s getting real.

And we’ve built our own app. Because I hate all event apps. I’m so excited for you to see this thing.

If you want to be in a room full of people who absolutely love this stuff. Nerdcon is the only choice. All of the best people from other shows, none of the noise.

Tickets are $2,099. (Or $999 for early stage)

It’s time to get nerdy.

Simon says: buy a ticket!

(Simon, err, I literally said it, well, typed it, so now you have to).

Come or don't. But if you don't, you'll spend another year learning expensive lessons someone in San Diego could have warned you about over drinks.
